In older versions of Windows, Cursor Flickering was a prominent problem. In Windows 10, the cursor blinks when a user is busy working on a particular document. 

In this article guide, I’ll be showing you how to troubleshoot cursor flickering as well as blinking issues. However before then, let’s briefly discuss the factors responsible for this problem;

i. Windows Explorer: Window Explorer serves as File Manager for Microsoft Windows. It manages all data, files and desktop of the PC. If there’s an error associated with the Windows Explorer, it may lead to blinking of the mouse.

ii. Drivers and Mouse: Both the mouse and drivers are essential components of the computer that are responsible for exchange of information between the hardware and the operating system. If the mouse or driver develops fault, it may cause mouse blinking. Hence, you might need to change your drivers or upgrade them, to solve an issue like this.

iii. Video Drivers: These are essential components of the PC responsible for exchange of signals between the operating system and the monitor. When a video driver is corrupted, or it suddenly stops working, it may cause the mouse to blink.

iv. Biometric device: Biometric devices enable a user to access a file or webpage easily. However, biometric devices can cause damage when they begin to malfunction/conflict with the system.

v. Antivirus software: When an antivirus software becomes outdated, it causes problems on the system and sometimes makes the system misbehave. Usually, it is recommended that you uninstall the antivirus software.

Now, let’s discuss how to fix the issue of blinking Cursor in Windows 10.

How To Fix The Blinking Cursor In Windows 10.

Here are few solutions to blinking/flickering cursor in Windows 10;

Solution 1: Restart your Pc. One simple way to fix this bug is by restarting your windows several times. Here’s how to go about it;

i. Go to Task manager

ii. Go to Windows Explorer, right-click on it and click “Exit Task” afterwards

iii. From the menu, select “File”, and also double-click on the “Run New Task” button.

iv. When the task window pops up, input “explorer.exe” and select “OK”

After these steps, the blinking cursor will definitely get fixed.

Solution 2:  Update Keyboard Drivers and Mouse

By updating both mouse and keyboard drivers, blinking/flickering cursor issue can be fixed. Follow these simple steps;

i. Click on Win + X together at a time

ii. Choose “Device Manager”, and click it open

iii. Expand your mouse and right-click each entry that pops up on the screen

iv. Click on “Update Drivers”

v. After that, reboot your PC 

With these simple steps, the error should be fixed.

Solution 3: Update your video drivers

One of the effects of faulty video drivers is that once it starts to malfunction, your mouse cursor begins to blink. To fix this, follow the following procedures;

i. Click on Win + X together at a time

ii. Select “Device Manager” and click to open.

iii. Expand your gaming, sound and video controllers in the menu, right-click on each entry that pops up on the screen, and click on “Update Drivers”. This can also be applied to the display adapters.

iv. After that, reboot your PC.

With these simple steps, your blinking cursor issue should have been fixed.
